What is LED skin rejuvenation?
This technique of using wave lengths of light works by the frequency of light being attracted and absorbed by the chromophores in the skin. These include, oxyhemoglobin, melanin ( pigment), water and capillaries found in hair and skin. This treatment makes changes by reducing surface capillaries, lightening pigment and tightening the skin reducing lines.
Photo rejuvenation: LED (Light Emitting Diode) light therapy, this technology uses concentrated beams of LED light to the deeper layers of the skin to activate a reaction of cellular activity. When applied to the skin light energy is converted into cell energy without producing any harmful UVA/UVB or infra-red rays or heat. What are the benefits?
The LED light combinations help to stimulate healing, which can treat acne, scarring, rosacea, age spots and also treats wrinkles and other problem caused by poor skins support. LED light stimulates the activity of fibroblasts, which are responsible for making proteins, collagen and elastin in the skin. Collagen and elastin are responsible for supporting the skin giving it elasticity. Replenishing the collagen and elastin helps smooth wrinkles and tighten the skin.
How does it differ from laser/IPL skin rejuvenation?
The difference in LED light therapy and laser light therapy is in the device that generates the light. The light that is emitted is the same in both cases, but LED lights are able to produce more light over time than laser, even though they use less energy. Laser/IPL gives more energy in a short period of time but also creates a thermal effect which can be slightly uncomfortable.
Light therapy takes advantage of the sensitivity of some cells to light to achieve its effects. The human body, while not able to perform photosynthesis, is able to use light rays for various purposes (metabolism of vitamin D for example). The effects of light therapy depend on the wavelength of light used (a wavelength determines its colour). LED light therapy uses relatively long waves of light which are able to penetrate fairly deeply (1-11/2 inches) into the skin.
What does the treatment involve?
Client is prepared by cleanisng and exfoliating the skin thoroughly, dark small goggles are placed over the eyelids while LED machine with over 4000 leds is placed over the face, the treatments lasts for 20minutes. The appropriate serums, cream and spf 30 completes the treatment leaving the skin bright and healthy with visible signs of improvement.
How many treatments do I need?
A course of 6-10 treatments 1 week apart is recommended for a specific condition, or the treatment can be combined with other facial treatments especially microdermabrasion as a regular monthly treatment to maintain optimum skin health.
